Welcome to the board poppa. Don't have an exact time we will be in Harrison, I think it's about 150 miles from Hot Spring. Figure if we get on the road by 8-8:30, should be in Harrison around 11-11:30. But that's a guess, as this is my first time up 7. We'll probably stop a few time up to take pictures, but that should be close. I plan to go on into Mo., just to add another state to the map. Don't know if any of the other will be going; boomer said he might, but all are welcome.

Welcome to the board Poppa...we are simple folk and just enjoy the simple pleasures in life. Lottery tickets sound good to me so I will probably go on into Mo. with netminder and your group. It would make for a great trip to comeback as a winner!

Well it isn't looking good for the home team about this trip. None of us want to cancel but then again none of us want to ride in the mountains during a tropical storm. Netminder and I discussed it tonight and it is looking like we will be cautious here and go ahead and call off the trip. We want some input here of course...if Bonehead hasn't replied by morning I will be calling him and getting his opinion. This doesn't come easy, I have been looking forward to this trip all year.I think Friday is the last day I can cancel the reservations with out losing any money...after that I am sure they will charge us something.

I'm disappointed, but after watching Janice Dean this morning, Gustav will either be right with us or just ahead of us, I agree we postpone also. I don't know if there will be an open window for me again in the near future. We are now back in swim season and our schedule gets very busy after 5 Sept.
Whomever said that we used up our weather chips on the Jackson ride got it right. I just think this went a little overboard with a hurricane! A thunderstorm would have sufficed.

Well to say the least I disgusted. From beautiful weather last year to a hurricane this year. Guess this is both end of the weather spectrum. Can't see going and riding 300+ miles in the rain. Done that once and it isn't any fun. Maybe we can get a ride in later in the year.

Who's up for going the other way and hitting the Dragon again? If the weather is gonna be good thru Sunday here, it might be possible. And it was a fun trip....but there is not way I will be going if we are to have a TS in Columbus on the way back.

Looked at the long range forecast for Robbinsville and it only has scattered thunderstorms for Sat and Sun. Hit or Miss at best. There is going to be the Cherokee Rally that weekend, just like last time. Just won't go to Cherokee.

No sweat. Talked to Steve, told him we would decide by Wednesday about the Dragon.

What I saw tonight shows Gustov spoils Scenic 7 and Hanna crosses into the east coast, Carolina's and Kentucky next weekend.
Enough with the rain dance Boomer!

I think God is trying to tell us to stay put on the Sept 6 weekend for some reason. He has my attention now. 2 hurricanes at opposite ends...and both ways we want to ride.

Boomer called tonight. They rode 11 hours and made it to the hotel. They had to detour a bit to avoid flooding on the lower Scenic 7.

Back Home now...I got back to the house at 3;30 p.m. Sunday. Rode a total of 1207 miles over the last three days. Scenic 7 was a bust...the lower end was closed due to flooding and the upper end was closed due to the road being washed out (apparently this had been the case for quite some time according to the locals.) We did get to travel some good twisty roads and see some great country...and any trip where you keep the rubber side down is a good one. The hotel was great in my opinion...we were right in the middle of town and walking distance to the main drag. The riding company was great as always. Having a CB and able to talk bike to bike made all the difference in the world. I recommend anyone planning on riding a long distance with another bike to get some sort of bike-to-bike comm system. There were 4 of us and three of us could talk...the other guy was kind of out of the loop and wasn't sure allot of the time what we were doing. Net_minder did a great job on the navigation finding alternate routes on the fly...we were literally changing routes in motion. The weather started out a bit soggy but by mid-afternoon Friday we were in sunny weather and it never got worse the whole trip. Thanks for everyones prayers of a safe trip! He was listening!
