Let's look at holidays, how far is the trip one way, what do we want to see in addition to the museum?
Goal: Dayton Ohio (Wright Patterson AFB, OHIO) Mileage (One way): 638 miles (Huddle House to Wright Patterson Gate) Assumption: This trip appears to be a lot of freeway riding, Cincinnatti and Nashville most congested. One Path: 82 to Birmingham to I65 I59 to Nashville Along the Way: Huntsville Space stuff Along the Way: Nashville (Bill's "Picker" friends and the Spaghetti Factory) Along the Way: Bowling Green (Corvette factory, if its still there)
Note: Bowling Green is approximately half way
Along the Way: Fort Knox (See the Patton Armour Museum. Bullion Depository closed to visitors (imagine that)) Along the Way: Cincinatti Destination: Dayton
Weather route: Columbus to Birmingham to Chattanooga to Knoxville to Cincinatti to Dayton. About 50 miles farther but puts a bigger separation for bad weather. Also lends itself to a dash to the Dragon. . . . . . . .
Just a flash of the trip.

That's two days of solid driving right there by the time you factor in traffic and food stops.

I am not sure if this is do-able in five days...I would like to be able to stop and see the sites on the way. We missed allot on the BRP because we didn't give ourselves enough time.

I was thumbing through a travel magazine today at the swim meet halftime and the back cover showed a good picture inside the Air Museum. Got my mind wanting to revive planning for this trip. Doesn't have to be soon, but I want to see it more now.

Let's relook this trip. I'd like to make this one next spring/early summer. My idea would be WPAFB, Springfield Il, St Louis Mo, and home. Would give us 5 new states visited, could visit Lincoln's grave and the Arch along with the museum. Total miles direct is 1517 round trip.
