I'll never be THAT hard up. Plus the two of us would greatly overload the bike, especially the rear seat. Might be what I need to loosen up the front seat.

Last weekend for repairs and getting last minute items all together. Friday can't come fast enough. Got a heat shield which has come loose on one end. Got to find out how to fix it Saturday. Hope to get a good ride in sometime this weekend.

Incredibly dumb design for the heatshield attachment. The are two screws which hold the heatshield on. One is marginally accessable but the rear screw is not accessable at all with the phillips because it is WELDED to the pipe itself. I used screwdrivers to moved the heatshield enough to get on it. I made sure thread lock was on it and cinched that bad boy down.

See the weather link below, looking at a 50/50 shot of scattered storms Sat and Sun. Bottom line: even if it says 0% chance of storms--bring rain gear (and a full face helmet). AL crowd will meet at 0945 at the ENTEC (I-65, exit 181) and we'll all join up at 1230 at the Gadsden, AL Cracker Barrel. Friday should be a nice ride either way. Hopefully as the weekend gets closer they will "accurize" the forecast a bit. Go ahead and start thinking about return routing, probably shortest route is best. See ya Friday. With it closing at 8PM it would barely be dark anyway.

The disappointment is tremendous. Bill happened to see a funny ring on his front tire while checking air pressure. Closer inspection showed his entire tread was about to peel off like an organge. I would be going to Gadsden alone. The weather will be more severe than expected, I decided to drop out. Hardest decision in a long time. If it doesn't feel right, something is wrong. We'll see if I was right. Good luck to everyone else.

Glad you all made it ok with minimum problems. Never expected to be sidelined with a tire issue. Tread on the tire is good for another 3-4000, but with the sidewall cut it's good for the burn pit!

Glad it was a good trip and everyone had a blast. With the weather here I ended up glad I was with my family. Our Emergency Management doesn't just sound the sirens for tornados. We decided they hit the button for severe thunderstorms in the area, heading our way. It will make your heart pick up a beat. Rhonda and Corey would've been a bundle of nerves Saturday. Sirens sounded not less than 5 times while we knew tornados were in this area.
I got the CooCase liners put in early Saturday and rubbed on the bike Sunday and worked some comm cable issues. Pulled the CB off and put it away for awhile.
Riding to a swim meet for Corey Friday night. There's isolated to scattered thunderstorms in the forecast right now. We'll see. It shows Saturday through Wednesday being crappy riding weather. May be a S40 ride not a Silverado ride.
