That's scary. What would happen to the earth if you, me and Jonathan were all on the same wave length?

Why come we can't stay at Tuskeegee Motel? I liked it and the price was right.

Discovered Saturday 20 Mar that there was a landslide at the Dragon and it is closed until maybe August. We are still going and will do other rides in the area which are just as good, maybe better. Regardless, we will be on the bike, having a nut of a time! Waiting on everyone in the ride to log on and get this thing fired up!

I am online here now. TDOT was of no help, thus I think we can look for alternate routes around the Tellico Plains area. BTW, I saw a post about going to Wright Patt--maybe something to look at next year. Steve-O PS-how do I add a picture to my profile?

Hey Jay bird, whats up! The TDOT isnt that hard to get info from. here is what I got in just a few min. KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- U.S. 129/SR-115 is closed from the North Carolina state line to a rockslide two miles south of the Chilhowee Dam. Due to the complexity and severity of the rockslide that occurred on U.S. 129/SR-115 on Sunday morning, law enforcement and emergency crews will have very limited emergency access to the Dragon. Response time to accidents or emergencies could be hindered by the rockslide's instability or repair work to the slide. The Tennessee Department of Transportation is continuing to assess the situation and is in the process of completing a stabilization plan. Efforts to complete an emergency contract are in the final stages but there is not a timeline for repairs to begin at this time. Meanwhile, motorists can take temporary detours around the rockslide area. So basically they don’t know what they are doing, but they know they need to do something and don’t know when they are going to do it but they are doing it in a hurry. see problem solved. Never send a pilot to do an engineer’s job.

There's a smart@$$ in every group isn't there. I called TDOT and they basically said "huh?" They have no idea when the problem will be fixed and wouldn't even put a timeline to it was my point. See you this weekend. Steve-O

DEALS GAP RESORT POST TUESDAY ON FB: "Ok Gang meeting on Friday with TN So Far will have Steve Burdon from TDOT, CPT Sanders from THP. Negitive response from TN State Sen Overbey he is tied up. So far from NC will be Graham county Commissioner Steve Odum. Waiting on a response from the rest of the NC folks." Lets hope this meeting is fruitful. But, regardless, we'll have a good ride, somewhere. I'm always open to a ride on a Saturday or Sunday, as long as we're in town and not at a swim meet for Corey. Just post a desire for a ride and we'll all see it and make firm plans to do it. Here's the site DGR put together to link everyone with the latest: www.dealsgap.com/save-the-gap/index.htmlBonehead

You don’t call any DOT and expect to get an answer do you? The person answering the phone is usually the guy that can’t do anything right, so they figure that they could at least answer the phone. How do you think I got my job with the state?

DGR UPDATE, 24 Mar 10: Ok Gang, coordination meeting is growing in size and looks like some great ideas will be brought up. Congressman Shulers office will be here now as well as reps from several agencies. Talked with Shulers chief of staff and they are working a lot of angles. Even hear a few folks talking about setting up a motorcycle ferry service around the slide. Hell of a idea.

Just received a clarrification for the TNDOT Public Information Officer regarding the September 1 date. The date is an ESTIMATED date. The contract for clearing the slide will be awarded on Monday (3/29), at that time a more accurate opening date will be posted. TNdot DOES SAY it should take several months to clear ...the slide. We will post as soon as we hear updates.
