Dad called me last night a work, thought he had a brake caliper problem. Looked it over today, turns out it's a blown fork seal. Looks like I'll be pulling the forks out of the old bike tomorrow and replacing them in his bike. Dad called the Village Idiots today, he know Carl Ivy the owner, and ask him how much to rebuild them. If we bring the forks in, it'll be aprox 100 per fork. Didn't ask how much to bring the bike, but best guess is 3 hours labor to remove and reinstall the plastic, pull the forks, rebuild them and reinstall. If labor is 65 per hour, looks like it could have cost him 400 dollars. That's what I gave for the bike, so it's now paid for itself. Good thing to have spare parts.

Got the changeout done in 2 hours. Took the bike for a test ride and it felt good. He has a lot of fork oil on the brake caliper and I told him to watch his braking distance until the oil burns off. Wasn't as bad a job as I thought it was going to be, but glad it's over and he's back in the saddle.
