...and something is bound to happen. Today Zach and I went for a ride on the scooter. We started out leaving my house and going down Jess Lyons to 45. We cut down to Kal-cola and over to Buck Egger past Charlie's house. Carried on out to Military road and down to the Country Club. We took Ridge over to Jolly Rd...that's right Jolly Rd with a passenger. We had a good time right up to the very end...at the stop sign. Zach thought I was making the turn right and I was stopping. He leaned to the right and thats where the bike went. Plop!...Zach tumbled off (he had my ICON jacket on) and stood up..."I'm OK!" with a smile on his face. We picked the scooter back up and got back on it...a few people stopped and asked if we were ok...that was cool. We got back to the house and looked at the bike...you can't even tell it was dropped...it was the same side as when someone dropped it at work ;D . Zach learned why I tell him not to lean

Glad to hear you both are alright. Met Steve in T Town today and he said yesterday, he passed a bad wreck. Seems a Burgman 650 T-boned an Explorer. Steve said from the front of the seat forward, you couldn't recognize the bike. The only way he knew it was a Burg was the name on the side. The biker was in a bad way, Steve said his helmet was busted open. Don't know if he made it. Let's hope so.

I hope the paramedics split his helmet...I would hope it wouldn't just split open...that would be a very bad sign.

Found out the man, a 60 year old from Northport, died later at the hospital.

Hate to hear that...I just wonder if it was his fault or the cagers.

Glad you and Zach were okay. I haven't had any passengers yet. I don't have a spare helmet and may not get one.
I'm sorry to hear about the Northport man. The first statement about riding in the Motorcycle Safety Course is "assmuned risk." Each one of us know the risk and if we continue to ride we accept that risk. I'm sure the man knew he had the same risk and while I hate he passed, I know he was riding because he liked it.
Everyone should evaluate the near misses and casualties and add an extra layer of safety in their riding. I know I will.
