If you havn't changed tires yet, the local price for mounting and balancing is 35 - 50 dollars to have it done. You CAN beat that......
If you have access to the base auto hobby shop and you have mag or tubless wheels, you can change you tires using the machine there for about 3 dollars each.
I have used the machine for my Goldwing tires (4 sets) and it's the same machine that motorcycle shops use. Takes me about 30 minutes to dismount and mount 2 new tires.
Jim Parks, who works over there, has helped me and knows how to do motorcycle tires. But he is the only one there that knows cycle tires can be worked. The others will tell you they don't do motorcycle tires.
As far a balancing tires, I bought a static balancer and it works great. If you need to use it, I'll bring it in for a small fee. (It pays for replacement weights)
For less than 10 dollars you can mount and balance 2 new tires vs 35- 50 to take it to the shop.

The other folks at the hobby shop know that we can mt. bike tires. we dont have a balancer but can get one if we have enough requests and business for one.

I'd love to see the hobby shop get a balancer for motorcycle tires. They make an adapter for the spin balancer, but I don't know how much it cost. The Butt Gallery has one on their spin balancer. Next time you get a chance, check and see if Snap-on has an adapter for the machine you have in the shop.

Around here it all about thrifty. I hate to be raped by the local "stealer" when it comes to tires, especially since my dad and I go thru 4 to 5 sets a year. Have gotten pretty good at doing them at the auto hobby shop on base!

If you need tires mounted, it would be no problem to hook you up. One of us can pick ya up and take you out to the HS and netminder is a wiz with the machine...cost me 3.50 for mount and balance and was done in ten minutes...I'm cheap but I am more lazy than cheap!
